10 lessons you NEED to get ahead in 2025

文章要点:

  • The fear of missing out can motivate action and overcome procrastination.
  • Learning how to learn is more crucial than specific skills in a rapidly changing world.
  • Prepping can become procrastination; take action to move forward.
  • Communication skills are essential for achieving personal and professional goals.
  • Your health impacts all aspects of your life and should not be neglected.

The fear of missing out on that became greater than the fear of what other people would say.

And you will probably be outpaced by someone who is leveraging this tool and this technology to get further.

We're talking about operating on a higher level where you're aligned in your visions for your life.

And I'll tell you something, the key to a lot of successful people is this.

Here they understand when they're prepping has become procrastinating, and they take action.

2025 has the potential to be one of the most successful years of your life.

But we have to take some lessons from 2024 into this new year if we're really ready to see change and progress.

2024 was one of my best years yet, and I learned so much from those 12 months that I think would be useful for both me and you moving into 2025 if we want to see that progress.

So let's just get into it.

The first lesson to take into 2025 is that there are two real ways to get over that cringe, that fear of being seen that is stopping you from doing what I know that you want to do, whether it's the networking, whether it's the content creation.

And the first way is effectively tapping into the fear of missing out. Now you're like, oh, really? We're talking about FOMO in a positive way. But hear me out.

The reason why I actually started my channel after years of procrastinating and being scared of what people would say was because the fear of missing out on everything that came with being a YouTuber and content creation, building a community of people that were like me and shared my interests, being able to monetize my ideas and my creativity, like literally talking about things and being able to generate an income from it, or being able to be in contact with brands or other creators that were alike, all of that stuff, the fear of missing out on that became greater than the fear of what other people would say.

People who are probably not even doing all that much with their lives, right? Because the people who are typically doing things and trying to progress and push the boundaries are not the same people who are going to be, you know, in the group chat saying, "ha, she posts a YouTube video," right?

So I actually tapped into the fear of missing out. And that is something that you can do if you feel like the cringe and the fear of being seen is holding you back. Tap into that, right?

We can tap into positive emotions, and ideally, that's where we want to be. But sometimes negative emotions have a reason. There's a reason that we have them. They can be useful.

Tap into that.

The second way of getting over this cringe and the lesson to take into 2025 is that you can reduce the perceived risk. What do I mean by this?

Now think about when you want to start an Instagram and you want it to be about maybe your business or something, you're working on your art. This is what people sometimes say, create a new Instagram because it actually reduces the perceived risk.

Why? Because the risk or the fear that you have is that people who know you will see you. They'll see you trying and they'll, you know, they'll see you posting.

Well, in an ideal world, I can just say, just do it anyway, but I know that's not how our brains work. So by reducing that perceived risk by starting a new platform and allowing yourself to become confident in what you're doing and showing up before you know all those people that you know find out is one way to go about it, right?

It's the same way, like when I say about networking, going to places that you are very confident in when it comes to topics that are being discussed or like, you know, whatever the theme is for that networking event, like if you go to an industry on one that you've been a part of for years, say you're an engineer or a nurse and your first networking event is around that you're going to be able to feel a lot more comfortable.

The perceived risk is reduced. These are really two key options for you in terms of getting over the cringe beyond. Just do it. Tap into these things.

Those are my key lessons for cringe in 2025.

Now, the second lesson for 2025 is knowing how to learn will always be more important than what you learn.

Things are moving so fast in this world right now.

We have artificial intelligence and machine learning that has come to the forefront, and people are panicking. They're panicking about, you know, their jobs and what their options are.

Or, you know, people have jobs in careers that are becoming redundant because of new technologies. I could sit here and tell you, you should be a programmer or you should learn this beyond actually just these individual skills that you can learn.

The thing that you should be focusing on is making sure that you can acquire skills and knowledge and apply them in whatever domain.

Like my ability to pivot into tech when there was a boom, right, coming from geography, was because I had spent years tapping into how to learn.

I had worked out the system for me in terms of acquiring and applying knowledge. So when an opportunity comes around, when a new technology comes around, when a new platform for content creation comes around, you know that you know how to learn that new skill, right?

You're focusing your energy there.

And that's not to say that you don't have skills that you build, and that's not what I'm saying, but that you should focus your energy there if you don't yet know how to acquire knowledge and new skills quickly.

It is why I've always been a fan of the Renaissance mindset and this idea of being multiskilled and having the ability to dabble in different domains so that you can evolve and move with the times.

This is going to be so important in 2025 and moving forward, right?

The rate of change is only increasing and therefore your ability to move with it is key.

The third lesson for 2025 is that prepping and procrastination can look very similar. Be careful.

Now, a lot of us, we're preparing for a long time, right? That channel that you've been thinking about, you've been preparing for it for a while, haven't you?

Researching, you know, that business you want to start, you've been preparing for a while, but at some point you realize that the preparation is just procrastination and you are allowing your fears to hold you back, but you're kind of just covering it up with prepping and that's not going to get you where you want to be.

Now, this is very challenging in a world where we're actually inundated with information, right? There are so many information sources from books, from YouTube, from podcasts, right?

All of these different areas that you can be prepping and researching forever and still not run out of information.

But at some point you reach the point of diminishing returns, where prepping and researching is actually not moving you forward.

And in fact, it could actually be holding you back. You're getting no real-world feedback.

Maybe it's from your content or your business or your relationships, right?

You've been prepping for, you know, friendships or researching how to be better, but you actually haven't done any work.

You've got no real feedback. And so at some point you have to break out of the prepping, which is actually procrastination, and take action.

And I'll tell you something, the key to a lot of successful people is this—you hear they understand when they're prepping has become procrastinating and they take action, right?

It's not because these people are infinitely smarter than the rest of us. They take action. They act on their thoughts, on their research, on their preparation.

Lesson number four, critical thinking is in short supply.

So if you can tap into it, you're likely to do very well in 2025 and moving on.

Your ability to think critically about what you are consuming or about what is happening around you is so key.

Again, when there are different information sources, when things are being bombarded to you to learn this new technology, do this new thing, be on this platform, you know, this is what's happening in the world. You should think like this.

This should be your political leanings.

Being able to assess information in front of you, right? Look at everything in front of you, think about the source of it. Why has this been made? Like, you know, going back to like, I think it's GCSE English, where you was like, why was this thing written?

Like those actual critical thinking skills that we did learn or start to learn in school but kind of just got lost somewhere else are so imperative to moving forward and being able to outpace people who aren't really thinking.

They're not thinking critically about information in front of them. They're not.

They're just going with the flow, going with what they've been told. Critical thinking is the ability to see something on TikTok and not just jump with it.

You know, you had a plan for what you were doing, but because there's this new shiny thing, you haven't thought critically about whether it makes sense for you and your plan and where you're trying to go, but you're going to jump on it anyway.

You know, there's a new fitness trend, and even though you've devised a plan for what you are trying to do, this new trend looks shiny and you know, my favorite influencer.

But have you thought critically about it? Because the answer could be yes, this is great for you or the answer could be no.

And I definitely did a video about how to bring new things into your plan and how to pivot.

I would definitely suggest, after you finish watching this video, checking that out. But critical thinking is key, and knowing when to pivot is part of that Critical Thinking 2025 is key.

Next on this list is AI. AI is a tool for you to use to your benefit and you can sit here and decide that you don't want to be involved in AI and you don't care about artificial intelligence or machine learning or, you know, these chatbots,

and you will probably be outpaced by someone who is leveraging this tool and this technology to get further. Don't be afraid of AI because people are saying it's scary.

It is a tool like any other tool. And yes, there will be losses because of the tool. Just like, you know, when the engine was devised or when, you know, tractors came about, people lost some jobs.

And I'm not saying that to diminish that or what the impact was, but technology will move forward and things will be lost and jobs and, you know, pathways will be lost and new ones will be created.

AI is here. Use the tool to your advantage.

Whatever it is that you are trying to achieve in terms of your business and even in terms of fitness, in terms of automating work that you're doing, right? Content creation.

Use this tool to your advantage. Imagine saying, I'm just not going to use the Internet because I'm just not.

I don't like it and I'm scared of it. And it's this new thing you probably got left behind in that period.

Those people got left behind by people who were able to leverage this tool and see it for what it is.

The next lesson is all about communication and it's the fact that you are going to need to spend time harnessing and developing your verbal and written communication in 2025, right?

Whether it is again, business goals, content goals, love and relationship goals. Your ability to articulate your ideas is going to be so important.

It's just becoming more important as people are craving connection.

They're craving, you know, that ability to speak one on one with somebody or one to many in terms of like content and something like this.

Harness this skill because you can leverage it in so many ways.

You can leverage it in that networking on one to one, right?

And whether you are talking to an investor or potential business partner or another artist, right? That is going to be pivotal for you, getting your ideas across.

Do people understand what it is that you stand for and that what you're doing or is it just a mystery to them because you're unable to articulate that?

But also in a setting like this, right?

Maybe you have dreams or aspirations of sharing your ideas with the world, whether it be in written format over a blog or something like Twitter, in which case it's really important that you're able to get those ideas across in written format or whether it is like this in video.

And therefore being able to structure and articulate your ideas in this sense becomes key.

Communication will impact so many, so many aspects of your life.

Even if you're negotiating your salary, know with your boss or potential boss, can you articulate your value, right?

Can you articulate why it is that you deserve more money or you deserve that promotion or in your relationship, are you able to articulate what it is that you need or what it is that you would like?

For this, moving forward, your friendships? Can you do any of that?

And are you working to improve that in 2025?

Please.

This is somewhere that you can't lose by investing in your communication skills.

Now for lesson number seven, I want to draw on one of the unconventional tips that I spoke about in another video.

But it's the fact that if you are struggling creatively, you are struggling with like this mental block, you need to spend more time being bored.

What is happening right now is you are constantly stimulated. Your brain is constantly engaged and interacting with something that requires a high level of cognitive interaction, something like scrolling.

It seems like a low-level activity, but you haven't given your brain the room to ruminate on ideas or experiences or things that has interacted with in the past because it's now consuming new things.

So you're at work, you wake up, you go to work consumed with that. Then you're on your phone, you're scrolling, you're consumed with that, or you're watching Netflix.

You haven't ever given your brain that opportunity to, like I said, make new connections.

And it's those new connections that effectively is creativity, right?

What is creativity if not just connecting you with things that already exist?

Whether you're an artist and you pick up a paintbrush and you use your experiences and some of your interactions and some of the other artwork that you've looked at and you know, maybe something from another domain and you bring these together to make new connections.

That is effectively creativity right at its core, in my opinion, it is making new and novel connections and bringing them forward into the world.

If your brain never has a chance to make those new connections and form them, it's very hard to be creative and to push boundaries.

Now one of the best ways to do this is by walking or doing something that has a low level activity.

So it's not just about sitting down and being like, hey, Creativity come to me.

Typically, like studies have found that doing some low level activity or low impact activity like walking or showering, you know, the idea that your best thoughts come to you in the shower.

This is why there's some sort of movement, some sort of low-level activity, but nothing that is highly cognitively intense.

Give yourself more time to think things through.

Lesson number eight is that the community around you will determine your future.

Spend time in 2025 thinking about the people that are around you both online and offline and how that is impacting you and how you are impacting them.

If you are an ambitious individual, you have big dreams for yourself, for your family, for your community, for your art, for your business.

It's going to require that you around people who share similar aspirations.

Right?

That's not to say that they have to be the same in terms of I want to do this career and so they have to be doing that career.

That's not quite what I mean.

We're talking about operating on a higher level where you're aligned in your visions for your life or the type of people that you want to become.

Right?

The type of impact that you want to have on the world and the people around you.

So it's really important that even with the people that you follow, right?

This is why I said online and offline because that is part of your community, believe it or not.

In fact, sometimes more so because there the sheer amount of time you spend online, spending time like making sure that that is curated to the type of life that you want to live in.

Your vision is really key.

But also you know, the people in your real life

and I'm not suggesting that you just cut people off because you know, I'm on this new level rule and Ada made this video.

So that's not what I'm saying.

But what I am saying is that you really have to take a good look at where you are investing your time and your energy and those interactions and the community you are forming.

I am very deliberate about the content that I create.

Mainly it's a reflection and extension of me. But I also know the type of people that draws in and it draws in a different type of people than if I was making, you know, other related content.

And that's very deliberate.

I want a community around me of people watching and you know, commenting and engaging and discussion that are like minded that see themselves and their life in a certain way.

That they have a vision for themselves is, you know, even with the people that I have in my personal life like they reflect that.

Number nine on this list is about the personal brand.

And you may have already seen my video going into it and why it's so important.

But again, your brand is effectively how the world sees you.

It is a way for people to make quick associations with you and decide whether they want to understand and know you more, whether they want to make connections with you, interact with you, bring you into their circles and their opportunities.

Right. And so spending time investing in your personal brand is going to be very key in 2025.

Right. Especially online.

And because the online component is becoming so, so pivotal to success.

It's the reason why a lot of people who are already millionaires, billionaires, are spending time on their personal brands, like Zuckerberg is like, wanting to be seen in a particular way.

And there's a deliberate attempt to craft his personal brand in a certain way to get people to see him in a certain way.

Right. These things are important if you want to move forward in the world and you want access to certain opportunities and people and a life that, you know, aligns with what it is that you see for yourself.

But because I spent so much time on a whole video going into that, that's going to be it for an out for this one.

And the final thing on this list, I should stress that this is in no particular order because without this, everything else is just void.

Right?

But it's the lesson that your health is so important and it's going to impact all the other areas of your life.

One thing I learned, like, in 2024 was that how I performed was so closely related to things like sleep and my nutrition and exercise and fresh air, right?

But it's very easy to just get into a mode where you start to put these things on the back burner.

Like it doesn't really matter, right?

It doesn't really matter what I'm eating and the nutrients that I'm getting in, or do I have a high sugar diet that is spiking, you know, causing spikes in my energy and my ability to produce and consume and create or, you know, the fact that I'm not sleeping enough actually has impacted the way that I feel the next morning and throughout the day.

Like, it seems obvious in one sense, and yet we neglect it so often.

And so the biggest lesson for me is that do not neglect your health in 2025.

Appreciate the health that you have.

And I think this is something that we, a lot of us have to be more grateful for is the health that we have and not to take it for granted, right?

To optimize it, to give our bodies and our minds the things that it needs in terms of nutrition, sleep, exercise, movement, fresh air.

Don't neglect that.

So that's it.

Those are my big lessons for 2025,

and I hope they resonate with you in some way.

Like, I hope you found some value in one of these 10 lessons that you can carry forward into this new year and moving forward.

So I'll see you in the next video.
